Yes, it is that time, The Holidays Are Coming and the Christmas adverts are out in force. We thought we’d throw together a quick list of some of our favourites from this year!
Set to, ‘Can’t fight this feeling’ re-recorded by Dan Smith from the band Bastille, the story follows a little girl called Ava, who is eagerly preparing for Christmas along with her family and friends. Joining her is best friend Edgar, an enthusiastic dragon, who’s unable to contain his excitement for the festivities ahead and finds it increasingly difficult to control his instinct to breathe fire.
The ad, created by ad agency adam&eveDDB, is centred around bringing people together at Christmas time, whether it’s through delicious food or thoughtful gifts, both of which show loved ones how much you care.
Nicholas The Sweep is the story of, could it be, the beginnings of Santa Claus. Marking the supermarket’s 150th anniversary, the heartwarming ad – depicting a Dickensian London – opens around the first-ever Sainsbury’s store back in 1869. The ad captures the hearts of the audience with the fabulous tag: ‘If you can’t do something special for someone at Christmas, then when can you?’
The Holidays Are Coming and with something a little different Joules’ Christmas ad features the one and only Wallace & Gromit to help drive their sales this festive period. It may be short and sweet, but we love it.
IKEA yet again hit the ball out of the park with their latest ad. It may be for Christmas, but it’s not your usual Christmas advert.
Part of their #WonderfulEveryday campaign, this advert features items around the house bringing those little voices in the back of our heads that say our home isn’t up to the job to the forefront, with a rap that brings shame to the home. IKEA believe every home is worthy of a get-together and that with a little imagination and some clever IKEA products and ideas, there’s no reason not to host.
The campaign strives to inspire the nation to get their homes party-ready. And Silence The Critics, once and for all. #WonderfulEveryday
We couldn’t resist but include the infamous Mariah Carey in some way shape or form this Christmas. And, this is a bit of a weird one, but we love it. Mariah fights for the last pack of crips and out pitches everyone to get her way. Not only does she make a mint every year from ‘All I Want For Christmas’ but this year she got a little extra from Walkers.
